Job Description

Building Air Services is currently looking for qualified Commercial HVAC-Refrigeration service technicians. Area of coverage will be Augusta and surrounding cities.  We are looking for highly qualified individuals to hire for our fast growing company.

·Ongoing PM (preventive maintenance) and responsive service (including emergency) as dispatched.

·Assessment of immediate service requirements as well as pro-active assessment of potential additional service

·Fulfillment of accurate work order information on our laptop paperless system

·Compliance with safety, good housekeeping and all state and local ordinances.

·Must be a team player

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge Required by Service Technician:

  • Ability to climb and work at heights, walking and standing for extended periods of time, lifting, bending, pushing and moving objects up to 150 pounds.
  • Interpret and work from plans, diagrams, shop drawings, sketches and specifications.
  • Operate equipment and tools utilized in the repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • 5 years in field repair/install experience that can be verified.
  • The HVAC/R Tech must be able to service and repair condensing units, evaporator units, and electrical components in the refrigeration a/c and H/P cycle. 
  • Install and modify and repair refrigeration –hermetic, semi?hermetic refrigeration units. Air conditioning, ventilation, computer room units, ice machines, and related control systems.
  • Braze and solder with precision. Install expansion and discharge valves in refrigeration circuits.
  • Experienced with multiple models and various refrigerants.
  • Must be able to read and write, type, and computer literate; Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows 7 Operations.
  • All HVAC/R contractors’ demands long hours normally 40 plus hours a week.
  • Ability to work in light rain (will not present a danger to you or others).

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge Required by Technician Helper:

  • 5 years of education or work experience (a combination may qualify).
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Gather and interpret pressures, temperatures, air flow, voltages, and amperages
  • Knowledge and understanding of superheat and sub-cooling.
  • Knowledge of refrigerant circuit and various refrigerants
  • Knowledge of variety of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to discuss issues via phone with tech support, manager, and fellow technicians
  • Minor sheet metal work
  • Minor duct board work
  • Minor carpenter work
  • Lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Climb and stand on ladders.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work in extreme heat conditions (up to 140 degrees)

Think analytically and independently; troubleshoot, maintain, modify and repair heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and electrical fans and pump motors, electric controls and associated safety, overcurrent and other equipment protection devices; perform physical labor including but not limited to:  and ability to left up to 150 lbs. ; comprehend plans and blueprints and schematics as appropriate to trade; follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; drive company vehicles safely and legally, demonstrate professionalism.


Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, bending, stooping, periodic lifting of heavy items, and exposure to heat up to 140 degrees for a period of 1 hour or more, cold, moisture, and air pollution. 

 Investigates problems and performs repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating, cooling and ventilation systems.  Performs preventative maintenance on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating and cooling systems. Monitors and inspects heating and cooling systems to ensure continued proper operation.  Locates, picks up, and delivers parts required for department needs.  Assists in monitoring the work of HVAC mechanics by providing instruction and training, serving as information resource.
